Barndancing - Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a difference between a barndance and a ceilidh?
For many, a Barndance means American dances (and tunes) while a Ceilidh would be a mixture of dances from the British isles. Actually, it doesn't matter what you call the evening as long as you have fun. You'll do so if you call it a Barndance or a Ceilidh.
If you have a theme for the dance, just let us know in advance - we can play American hoedown's and square dances all evening if you want an excuse you wear you spurs.
How Long is a Barndance?
About two and a half hours of dancing suites most occasions and stamina levels. If there is a break in the middle for refreshments the overall time will be greater but the actual time on the floor will depend on yourself and your guests.
Should we book a disco as well?
If you want to extend the evening, a disco may work, but only if it is on after the barndance has finished. We have worked with many a Disco and it only ever caused problems when the disco does a spot in the middle. The moods created by the two music styles are so different that it is difficult to get the dance re-started when the bubble machine is switched off.
